- Mar 24, 2017 Re: Do you wanna build an Airship? (5e) Use the largest Carpet of Flying, that can support a maximum of 1600lbs. Nail one into the hull of a ship that's weighting less than 500 lbs, and you have your flying ship, which then moves with the sails. You can also use more than one carpet.
I've been looking at a few different sets of rules for using airships in 5e, and all of them are not really hitting the mark for me. Overall what I'm finding is very crunchy. I'm looking for something more streamlined. Looking for rules on ship design/construction and ship to ship combat. I'm not overly concerned with the how and why the ships fly, just that they do. Bonus points if they look less like waterborne ships and more like something out of Spelljammer. (Speaking of which, I haven't checked out any 5e Spelljammer resources, yet.)
Basic Crew Statistics are listed below. You may find special crew members throughout Wildspace and beyond that may differ from the statistics listed here.
